Iran, Iraq to host Arbaeen march theater

Iran and Iraq are set to run popular theater convention in conjunction with Abraeen march, one of the largest peaceful gatherings for Imam Hussein (AS).

In the third run of the convention called ‘Narrative of Wayfarers’, theater performances will be presented in Iranian border regions as well as some Iraqi cities.

The theatrical works will be organized for mourners who take part in the Arbaeen march between the two holy cities of Najaf and Karbala.

A total of 21 works have been selected for the event which kicks off October 21.

The performances include street theaters, Naqqali or Iranian dramatic story-telling and Ta’zieh or Persian Passion plays, among others.

Mourners annually march toward the holy city of Karbala on the occasion of Arbaeen, which marks forty days after the Day of Ashura, the day Imam Hussein (AS) was martyred in the Battle of Karbala.
